Czech Republc Tourist Information

If you are looking for Czech Republic facts check out my previous page. On this page you'll find valuable Czech Republic tourist information to help you plan your European vacation.

The Czech Republic can be considered one of the jewels of Europe. It is fast becoming one of the more popular European travel destinations. This relatively small country has so much going for it and many parts of it have only seen a small number of tourists over the years. To fully understand the country take some time to research its history. It has seen a lot of changes in the last couple of decades and has come out of it smelling like roses.

The capital of the Czech Republic is Prague which is located in Bohemia. The city is magnificent and provides the visitor with all the old world charms. It has kept much of its character because it was virtually untouched during the second world war. The architecture is stunning and so are the people. If you like beautiful women then make sure you stop in Prague. The city is divided into 15 districts that offer a multitude of activities. Prague is generally a busy tourist town unlike the rest of the country. Typically you'll spend your time seeing the sights and enjoying a good meal along with great beer.

Bohemia also has many other places of interest for the traveler. You may decide to take a trip to České Budějovice which is the second largest city of the region. The city of Plzeň could also be on your itinerary and is famous for being the birthplace of "Pilsner" beer. Other cities include Karlovy Vary, Tabor and Terezin, each of these stops will provide you with a uniquely Czech experience. If you do get a chance to travel around then make sure you make a stop at Karlštejn Castle.

Another of the Czech regions is Moravia located in the eastern part of the country. The largest city is Brno and other cities that may interest you are Olomouc, Rakvice and Zlin. If you like to spend time in less populated areas then you should try Moravia. There are some great vineyards and many quaint little villages that will really give you a feel of what the country is all about. Try visiting the Macocha caves just to the north of Brno, it's definitely worth the trip.

Another popular region is Silesia in the northeast. A trip to this region will certainly be unique. Because of it's proximity to Poland you'll get a taste of both cultures. The city of Opava is a beautiful city with a lot of history. The Czech republic seems to have an abundance of spa towns such as Jesenik and Karvina which are located in the Silesia region.

The Czech Republic is not a member of the EU yet so you'll have to be a little patient with the customs officers. There are regular flight from North America to Prague but usually with a connection. Prague's airport is Ruzyně and is located just outside the city. To reach the other areas of the country it's probably best to travel by train or rent a car, however, there are flights to the smaller cities from cities such as London or Munich. I prefer the train because they make it so easy.
